About Dr. Barbara Levinson, Ph.D, RN, LMFT, LSOTP
Barbara S. Levinson, Ph.D, RN, LMFT, LSOTP is the Director and Founder of the Center for Healthy Sexuality conveniently located at 2400 Augusta Drive, Suite 120, Houston, TX 77057.
Qualifications and Education
Barbara is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who holds a Ph.D from the University of Texas at Austin, TX. She is a longtime member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Diplomate. She is a longstanding member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) and is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor by the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). Dr. Levinson is also a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).
Dr. Levinson has extensive training in individual, family, group, and marital therapy and has developed innovative programs for couples and families She was instrumental in the development of training programs for other health care professionals and provides ongoing supervision for those wishing to provide specialized services She provides treatment for Sexual Disorders, Sexual Dependence, Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder, Mood/Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, only to name a few.
Dr. Levinson is skillfully trained in the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a highly effective technique utilized in the treatment of trauma.
Dr. Levinson is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor at the Center for Healthy Sexuality. She provides specialized treatment for the sex addict, in individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing the Task-Centered approach developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes.
Dr. Levinson is also a Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP), working with Parolees, Probationers, and self-referred sexual offenders. She has a special focus on Internet Addiction, Cybersex Addiction, and crimes regarding child pornography. She has lectured extensively to professionals on these topics. She accepts referrals from Attorneys, Judges, and the Court System for comprehensive assessments and evaluations regarding these matters.
Dr. Levinson is the past President of the Texas Association for Sex Offender Treatment (TASOT) and is a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA). She has been working with sex offenders since 1989 and has developed the Restitution and Responsibility Treatment Program at the Center for Healthy Sexuality in which she utilizes a cognitive-behavioral therapy and a task-centered approach for the treatment of sex offenders.

Dr. Levinson has lectured extensively nationwide and has also been featured on numerous radio and television programs regarding her expertise in the field of sexuality.
